I am Jayden Merrick, a current undergraduate student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I study Computer Science, Data Science, and Biology.
My CNN model project, meant to scan non-coding DNA for Melanoma cancer is being shifted into a new space. Since this project includes much more complexity, I have decided to pass it over to Badger Biodata. This will allow multiple collaborators and a great starter project for the club. As I continue using this website to display my portfolio, I have been adjusting and tweaking the website every month. New updates include adding more to my "about" page, adding mobile accessibility, creating sections in my portfolio page to sort projects, adjusting wording, and fixing broken links. This project aims to develop a predictive model which intakes raw DNA sequence data to estimate the likelihood of a mutation driving melanoma cancer along noncoding sequences of DNA. The model architecture of Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) will be trained under the supervised training method to utilize the robust datasets of noncoding mutated variants seen as melanoma-linked or benign. The impact of such a model could further research for early risk assessment of melanoma cancer.
